Microlab is the world leader in hybrid combiners for wireless applications. Those products are all high power, low loss, high isolation and low PIM. Those combiners offers many possibilities (2×2, 3×3, 4×4, 4:2, 3:1, etc) designed for diverse applications. They are optimized for high directivity and isolation.
Hybrid couplers (combiners) have the important characteristic that allows addition of two or more signals without interaction regardless of how close the frequencies of the signals may be; offering a significant advantage in this way. Indeed, this feature can often eliminate the need for filters which can often introduce signal aberrations.
Microlab’s hybrid couplers have ultra wide bandwidths, very low PIM and minimal loss. The most commonly recommended hybrid for wireless systems is a multisection, stripline design, covering 700 MHz to 2700 MHz, which includes the present and future cellular, PCS, 3G and 3G/4G extension bands. Other units extend frequency coverage with flat response from 350 MHz to 6000 MHz, but at the cost of greater size and weight.
As far as the hybrid matrices are concerned, the standard 2×2 hybrid coupler is also available from Microlab as a 3×3 and a 4×4 matrix. An important advantage is that they naturally produce as many outputs as there are inputs. So, if a system can use multiple outputs, as in an in-building DAS, then the hybrid matrix could be theoretically considered as a ‘lossless’ combiner, and becomes a very important building block in neutral host combining systems for DAS In-Building Networks.
Finally, multi-band hybrid combiners are available with integrated loads.
